Abstract

Background. The goal of the research is to determine the wearing qualities of a pyrolytic friction pair by experimentally studying of volumetric wear and it’s comparing with the volumetric wear of a ceramic friction pair.
Materials and Methods. The comparative study of a friction pair made of pyrocarbon and ceramic friction pair was carried out at the ECRB.942623.110-07.00 installation in accordance with State Standart ISO 14242-3–2013.
Results. The experiment was stopped after reaching the number of cycles required by the State standart requirements in both experiments. The volumetric wear of a friction pair made of ceramics was 0.022 g, friction pairs of pyrocarbon - 0.014g
Conclusion. The wear of a friction pair of pyrolytic carbon is less on 32 % than ceramic friction.
